MiCA Deadline 2026: Spain Rules Out Binance Extensions
Spain's securities regulator CNMV says crypto firms without MiCA licensing won't get any extensions or special treatment. Chair Carlos San Basilio confirmed there will be "no exceptions or extensions" ahead of the July 1 deadline. He said the regulator is working closely with unlicensed firms to manage orderly wind-downs and protect customers.

Binance Pulls Greece Application
The comments follow Binance withdrawing its MiCA license application in Greece this week. The exchange plans to seek authorization elsewhere and says it remains committed to Europe, expecting a license “in the coming months.” Customers in Poland, Italy, Spain and France have already started getting emails about withdrawing funds.
Industry Split On MiCA
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao slammed the rules, saying the EU is cutting users off from top liquidity. OKX CEO Star Xu fired back, accusing Binance of ignoring regulations and citing past allegations against the exchange. Kraken, meanwhile, praised MiCA for giving the industry one clear rulebook across 30 countries.
