Palantir Europe Head Warns Region Is Missing the Boat on AI

Palantir’s head of UK and Europe, Louis Mosley, warned that the region is making the same mistake with artificial intelligence that it made with the internet, saying the US got the internet right while Europe missed the boat.

Mosley noted that Europe and the US were roughly comparable 20 years ago on GDP per capita and capital market depth. Since then, the US has compounded growth while Europe has barely advanced. The internet wave produced almost no European champions, with ASML the rare exception, he said.

Cautious Corporate Attitude Holds Back Adoption

European corporates remain hesitant, taking a wait and see approach to new technology, according to Mosley. He called Palantir the purest proxy on public markets for the rate of AI adoption in an economy, noting the company is model agnostic and lets customers run systems from OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Grok or Chinese providers.

Political Attacks Linked to Gaza and Trump

Opposition to Palantir across the UK and Europe stems from its defense and law enforcement ties, including contracts with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement under Donald Trump and targeting systems for the Israel Defense Forces. Campaigners have also objected to its work with the UK’s National Health Service on ethical grounds.

Mosley called this a distraction from domestic priorities, comparing the hostility to past attacks on bitcoin miners over energy use. With only about 1,000 customers against a far larger addressable market, he said Palantir remains early, adding that the biggest risk to AI is political failure to explain its benefits.
