POSCO International, South Korea’s largest trading company, has completed a transaction converting real-world trade receivables into digital assets on an Avalanche based blockchain network. The move, carried out with trade finance platform Olea and asset-backed technology firm Intain, comes just a month after a similar pilot on the Injective network.

AI Helps Verify Trade Documents

Intain used artificial intelligence to reconcile invoices, purchase orders, credit notes, and shipping documents before recording the verified receivables onchain. Since trade receivables represent money owed to a company after delivering goods, putting them on a shared blockchain ledger can reduce paperwork and speed up access to financing by creating a single, trusted record accessible to buyers, sellers, and lenders.

Part of a Broader Tokenization Strategy

With $22.2 billion in annual revenue spanning steel, energy, and battery materials, POSCO International continues expanding its blockchain experiments beyond traditional funds and bonds. The company, along with its partners, plans to explore further applications, including stablecoin based cross-border settlement and digital treasury management tools, as tokenization increasingly moves into trade finance and corporate payment systems.
