Ripple Says Asset Managers Preparing for XRP Ledger Payments Upgrade

Ripple says asset managers and commercial projects are preparing to adopt a new XRP Ledger feature that allows multiple linked transactions to settle together as a single unit. The feature, called Batch V1.1, can combine up to eight transactions so that they either all succeed or all fail together, avoiding situations where one side of a deal completes while the other doesn't.

Ripple says asset managers and commercial projects are preparing to adopt a new XRP Ledger feature that allows multiple linked transactions to settle together as a single unit. The feature, called Batch V1.1, can combine up to eight transactions so that they either all succeed or all fail together, avoiding situations where one side of a deal completes while the other doesn’t.

According to RippleX’s head of engineering, this all or nothing structure is particularly valuable for delivery versus payment scenarios, where an asset transfer and its corresponding payment need to happen simultaneously rather than relying on one party to send first.

Broader Use Cases Beyond Simple Payments

The feature could also let exchanges, wallets, and marketplaces bundle service fees directly into customer transactions, processing a payment and its associated charge as one combined operation rather than separate transfers. Ripple’s engineering team noted that several projects are already being built with this feature in mind, positioning them to move closer to production once the upgrade activates.

Feature Returns After Earlier Security Flaw

The current version follows an earlier attempt that developers withdrew after researchers discovered a critical vulnerability in its signature-validation process earlier this year. That flaw could have allowed an attacker to include unauthorized transactions from another account under certain conditions.

Activation Timeline Remains Conditional

The upgrade currently has support from the majority of XRP Ledger’s tracked validators, exceeding the threshold needed to begin its activation countdown, which started in mid-September. If validator support remains sufficiently high throughout the required window, the feature is projected to activate by the end of the month, though the timeline could shift if validator support changes.
