Robinhood is rolling out a wave of new features aimed at active traders, including AI agents that execute trades, leveraged crypto perpetual futures and weekend trading for US stocks.
Robinhood AI Agents: How They Work
At its HOOD Summit in Houston, Robinhood unveiled Robinhood Agents, letting customers build an AI agent inside the app using a model from OpenAI or Anthropic. The agent gets access to a separate trading account where it can analyze markets, build watchlists and trade stocks, options and crypto. A feature called Loops lets users give agents standing instructions to monitor markets and act automatically when set conditions are met. Vice president Abhishek Fatehpuria said being the top platform for active traders is a top company priority, regardless of asset class.
Safeguards and Oversight
Robinhood will default to requiring customer approval for every trade an agent proposes, though users can turn that off. Agents cannot borrow on margin at launch and can only use money in their dedicated account. Senior director Gina Pasqua-Abeles said the company still expects users to maintain oversight over their agents. More than 150,000 agentic accounts have already been created since Robinhood opened its trading infrastructure to outside AI agents earlier this year, generating millions of daily tool calls.
Robinhood Launches Crypto Perpetual Futures
Robinhood will offer eligible US customers perpetual futures through Robinhood Derivatives and Bitstamp, starting with crypto. Bitcoin and ether contracts will carry up to 10 times leverage, while other assets start at three times. Grace Q, the company’s head of US futures products, said Robinhood chose lower leverage for more volatile, long-tail tokens to start safer, with room to adjust limits later.
Weekend Trading and Earnings Contracts
Robinhood will fill the remaining gap in its 24 Hour Market, launched in 2023, by offering select stocks and ETFs on Saturdays and Sundays through Bruce ATS. The company is also extending options trading hours, adding more intraday margin and introducing binary contracts through Cboe that let customers trade on whether companies hit specific metrics like revenue or iPhone sales.
