Russia’s Secret China Military Training Approved at Highest Levels, Documents Reveal

China’s covert military training of Russian forces last year was directly approved by Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov, according to two European officials and classified documents. At least four senior generals from both countries were involved, including Colonel General Rustam Muradov, who led the Russian delegation, and Chinese Major General Li Jinsun, head of the PLA’s Military Academy of Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defence.

Training Covered Chemical, Biological and Radiological Warfare

A classified Russian document revealed a three week training session held at a Beijing military facility in November, covering chemical reconnaissance, radiation protection and biological defence systems. Around 200 Russian personnel participated, some of whom have since deployed to Ukraine.

Europe Weighs Response as China Denies Involvement

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas confirmed the training through independent channels, describing China as a decisive enabler of Russia’s war effort. China’s foreign ministry rejected the claims as entirely unfounded, maintaining its position as a neutral party. The agreement underpinning the training was signed by Russian Major General Rustam Khusainov and Chinese Senior Colonel Sun Dayun.
