Stablecoin payments company dtcpay has completed a $25 million Series A funding round, with Japan’s SBI Group joining as a strategic investor. The round was initially led earlier this year by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India, and later expanded with SBI entering through two of its investment arms. Existing investors also kept their stakes in the company.
What dtcpay Does
The company provides crypto infrastructure services, including asset conversion, custody, and a Visa-linked card that lets users spend stablecoins like regular cash. It holds a Major Payment Institution license from Singapore’s central bank and has regulatory presence across Europe, Hong Kong, Australia, and North America.
Strategic Move for Cross-Border Payments
SBI’s investment reflects an effort to build regulated payment channels linking Japanese capital with Southeast Asian markets. Stablecoins offer a faster alternative to traditional cross-border banking when handled through properly licensed partners.
Dtcpay’s founder and CEO said the funding wasn’t meant to maintain the current business, but to reshape how money moves internationally.
Part of a Larger Pattern
This deal fits into SBI’s broader push into digital-asset infrastructure, following its acquisition of Singapore’s Coinhako, an expanded stake in Ripple, and its role as a founding validator for Circle’s Arc network.
The new funds will go toward building an enterprise portal, improving app features, and expanding merchant partnerships. The company did not disclose its valuation or revenue figures.
