SBI Shinsei Introduces Crypto Rewards for Bank Deposits in Japan

SBI Shinsei Bank is preparing to launch a new service that connects traditional banking with crypto rewards, giving customers a new way to gain exposure to digital assets through their savings accounts.

Under the program, deposit holders will receive vouchers worth 20% of their interest payments in addition to their regular yen-denominated interest. These vouchers can be redeemed for Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), or XRP through SBI VC Trade, the group’s cryptocurrency exchange platform.

To use the rewards, customers will need to open an account with SBI VC Trade. Before the full launch, the bank plans to run a three month promotional campaign covering ordinary savings accounts and fixed term deposits ranging from three months to five years.

SBI Expands Its Cryptocurrency Services

The new deposit reward program is part of SBI Group’s broader strategy to increase cryptocurrency adoption across Japan’s financial sector. By linking savings products with digital asset rewards, the company aims to make crypto more accessible to mainstream banking customers without requiring direct purchases.

Earlier this year, SBI VC Trade introduced a USDC lending service that allows customers to lend stablecoins to the platform in exchange for returns under fixed-term agreements.

Growing Crypto Presence Across Financial Products

SBI has also been strengthening its position in Japan’s crypto market. The company recently explored acquiring a stake in the Bitbank exchange after integrating Bitpoint Japan into its operations.

In addition, SBI Securities is preparing investment products tied to digital assets, including investment trusts and exchange-traded funds focused on Bitcoin and Ether. These initiatives highlight SBI’s efforts to build a complete crypto ecosystem spanning banking, trading, lending and investment services.
