Seven More Issuers Object to OKXICE Tokenized Stock Trading, Bringing Total to 16

Microsoft, Alphabet and Goldman Sachs have objected to having tokenized versions of their shares traded on OKXICE, the planned venue from crypto exchange OKX and NYSE parent Intercontinental Exchange. Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald's and Western Digital also joined the list in an updated public notice dated Oct. 19. The notice does not give reasons or say when the objections were submitted.

Objection Count Rises From Nine to 16

The disclosed tally is now 16 companies, up from nine in last week’s notice. The original filing named 63 tickers covering 62 companies, with Alphabet appearing through two share classes. Fifteen of those companies have objected, leaving 47 without a disclosed objection. Cerebras Systems, the other objector, was not on the original trading roster.

Previous objectors included Broadcom, Verizon, UnitedHealth, CoreWeave, AppLovin, Applied Digital, Rocket Lab and Applied Optoelectronics.

SEC Innovation Exemption and Tokenized Stock Framework

OKXICE announced its plans on Oct. 5 and is seeking to operate under the SEC’s five year Innovation Exemption, unveiled last month. The framework lets qualifying venues trade tokenized US stocks through automated market makers and liquidity pools, while giving issuers a chance to object. The growing list of objections highlights a hurdle for the framework.
