SK hynix is projected to report an all time high operating profit of 64.1 trillion won ($43.7 billion) for the second quarter, fueled by its dominant position in the high bandwidth memory market amid strong AI chip demand.
Consensus Estimates Point to Record Sales
A survey of 14 local brokerages compiled by Yonhap Infomax forecasts sales of 84.1 trillion won for the April-June period, with the profit figure surpassing the company’s previous annual record of 47.2 trillion won set in 2025. Operating margin is expected to reach 75-77 percent, up slightly from 75 percent in the first quarter.

Samsung Guidance Points to Combined Industry Strength
The forecast aligns with Samsung Electronics’ own quarterly guidance of 89.4 trillion won in operating profit. Together, South Korea’s two memory chipmakers are expected to post a combined operating profit exceeding 150 trillion won when SK hynix reports Wednesday.
AI Demand Drives Growth
Analysts credit rising memory prices and strong demand for HBM and SSDs used in AI data centers, with KB Securities noting tech and data center clients could account for 70 percent of SK hynix’s revenue this quarter.
