Solana Accelerate Shanghai Event Postponed After Registrations Surge Past Local Cap

Solana Foundation President Lily Liu said the Accelerate event in Shanghai has been put on hold because sign ups climbed beyond the attendance limit approved by local authorities. In a Friday post on X, she explained that registrations rose fourfold overnight once the event gained attention, and organizers chose to delay it to meet local requirements. Earlier in the day, some X users claimed the event had been abruptly suspended and that law enforcement officers were stationed at the venue.

Accelerate China Tour Schedule

Shanghai was meant to open a four city tour, with Hangzhou set for Sunday, Shenzhen on Tuesday and Beijing on Thursday. The delay came shortly after Solana executives promoted a new Shanghai office earlier this week. A similar episode happened in October 2025, when a Solana event in Shenzhen ended early because of venue capacity and public safety concerns, according to the project’s Chinese language community account.

China Crypto Restrictions and Regulatory Backdrop

China bans a wide range of crypto related services, including token fundraising, trading and mining. In February, the People’s Bank of China and seven other agencies reinforced those limits with a notice that added fresh bans, among them the unauthorized issuance of yuan pegged stablecoins.
