Deepening Ties Between Kazakhstan and Solana

The partnership builds on Kazakhstan’s growing relationship with Solana, following last year’s launch of Central Asia’s first Solana Economic Zone in Astana and the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange’s recent introduction of a Solana ETF. The collaboration with Alatau City will focus on digital asset treasury management, blockchain infrastructure, institutional adoption and platform development, including participation in a dedicated crypto pilot zone within the city.

First introduced by Kazakhstan’s president in 2024, Alatau City envisions a smart city powered by hydrogen energy, autonomous transportation and blockchain-based systems. However, regulatory concerns and reports of limited basic infrastructure suggest the project still faces significant ground-level challenges.
