Proposal Clears Two-Thirds Threshold By Slim Margin

The measure, known as SGP-0002, ended with 67% support, just barely surpassing the required two-thirds majority needed to pass. Around 25% of validators voted against the proposal, while roughly 8% abstained. Voter participation reached just over 60%, comfortably clearing the required quorum threshold.

Last-Minute Vote Switch Decides Outcome

The vote came down to the wire, with support falling short of the required threshold even in the final hour. A validator linked to a major crypto exchange, representing about 2% of total votes, switched its position from opposing to supporting the measure shortly before the deadline. One prominent industry executive described the effort behind securing enough votes as intense, noting it involved hundreds of last-minute calls before the proposal passed by a very narrow margin.

SOL’s price saw a brief bounce as the vote concluded but remained below its previous day’s high, trading down slightly over the past 24 hours.

Two Additional Proposals Also Put To Validators

This marked Solana’s first ever network wide governance vote, with two additional measures also on the ballot. A separate proposal establishing foundational governance rules for future voting passed overwhelmingly with more than 95% support. A third proposal aimed at increasing SOL token burning through transaction fee changes failed to gain enough backing, receiving roughly 54% support.

Together, the three proposals gave Solana validators direct influence over key aspects of the network’s economic structure for the first time.
