SpaceX Ownership Revealed for First Time as Major Shareholders Emerge From the Shadows
SpaceX shares jumped more than 5% Monday as new regulatory filings offered the first detailed look at who owns the company since it went public in June. More than 1,500 investors disclosed positions, but just 23 large managers holding 10 million shares or more account for roughly 83% of all reported shares. At the opposite end, nearly 1,340 smaller investors together control less than 1% of total holdings.

Big Tech, Sovereign Wealth, and Even Harvard on the List
Alphabet leads all disclosed holders with more than 551 million shares, followed by Fidelity with over 302 million spread across its managed funds. Other major stakeholders include a venture firm, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, and Nvidia, each holding over 100 million shares. Harvard’s endowment manager also appears on the list with nearly 13 million shares, making SpaceX its largest publicly disclosed U.S. stock position.

Share Unlocks Arrive at a Pivotal Moment
The ownership reveal coincides with early investors gradually gaining the ability to sell shares that were previously restricted after the IPO. Roughly 912 million shares became tradable earlier this month, and rather than pressuring the stock, SpaceX rallied sharply in the days that followed. Another 319 million shares are set to unlock this week, with more batches expected through the fall as the stock trades back near its original public debut price.
