Standard Chartered Adds Ripple USD Custody and Eyes LMAX Collateral Deal
Standard Chartered has launched institutional custody services for Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger, with plans to expand its use as trading collateral.

Standard Chartered has launched institutional custody services for Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger, with plans to expand its use as trading collateral.
The UK based bank announced Monday that it rolled out RLUSD support through its Dubai International Financial Centre branch, giving eligible institutional clients access to its digital asset custody infrastructure.

Collateral Mirroring Model for LMAX Clients
Standard Chartered plans to extend its collateral mirroring model to LMAX Group, allowing clients to use RLUSD as trading collateral while keeping the tokens in the bank’s custody.
Under the model, LMAX would recognize the value of eligible RLUSD holdings without requiring clients to transfer tokens to its trading platform. The bank said this could reduce transfer related risks and help institutions manage exposure to trading counterparties.
Partnership Builds on Earlier Ripple LMAX Deal
Ripple, the blockchain payments company behind RLUSD, and LMAX Group announced a partnership in January 2026 to expand institutional use of the stablecoin.
Standard Chartered said the additional collateral capabilities remain subject to final documentation, testing, regulatory requirements and internal approvals.
The move adds RLUSD to a growing list of digital assets under the bank’s custody umbrella and signals deeper ties between traditional finance and stablecoin infrastructure.
