Founding Members Pledge $15 Million

The consortium includes Strategy, BlackRock, Coinbase, Galaxy, Fidelity Digital Assets, Anchorage Digital, ARK Invest, Block and Blockstream, spanning holders, custodians, exchanges and asset managers. Members have collectively pledged $15 million over three years to support developers and researchers, with each firm directing its own funding independently. Brink Executive Director Mike Schmidt will coordinate daily operations in a volunteer role.

Post-Quantum Cryptography Named Top Priority

The group identified post-quantum cryptography as its first focus area, even as experts believe capable quantum computers remain years away. Strategy CEO Phong Le said long-term holders have a clear interest in keeping Bitcoin secure for future generations. The consortium said it will not influence Bitcoin’s protocol or speak for its developer community, leaving that work to the open-source ecosystem.

Part of a Wider Industry Push

The launch follows Galaxy’s own Bitcoin Quantum Readiness Initiative announced this week, which committed up to $5 million toward similar research. Project Eleven has previously warned that roughly 6.9 million bitcoins could be vulnerable to quantum attacks, with a possible “Q-Day” arriving as early as 2030.
