The Sui blockchain experienced another network disruption on Friday, less than 24 hours after suffering its longest outage to date. According to blockchain tracking data, the network stopped processing blocks for nearly two hours, raising new concerns about stability and infrastructure reliability.
The Sui team confirmed the issue, stating that the mainnet was facing a “network stall,” which temporarily paused activity while engineers investigated the cause.

Previous Six-Hour Sui Outage Linked to Software Bug
Thursday’s disruption lasted 5 hours and 55 minutes, marking the worst outage in the network’s history. The issue was reportedly caused by a bug in the gas charging logic introduced with Sui’s latest 1.72 software release.
The update introduced major changes, including Address Balances, designed to simplify transactions, and Gasless Stablecoin Transfers, allowing supported stablecoins to move without transaction fees.
Sui Validators Working on Network Recovery
While it remains unclear whether Friday’s outage is tied to the same bug, reports showed that at least two-thirds of Sui validators had already upgraded to a fix released after Thursday’s incident. The SUI token traded near $0.90, showing only a modest daily decline despite ongoing network issues.
