Tether has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Nairobi Securities Exchange to explore tokenized securities and blockchain driven market infrastructure across Kenya.

Tether has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Nairobi Securities Exchange to explore tokenized securities and blockchain driven market infrastructure across Kenya.
Deal Scope and Key Objectives
The agreement, announced Tuesday, sets out plans to study how blockchain systems could support market operations, expand digital asset knowledge, and bring real-world assets onto blockchain networks. Part of this includes evaluating Tether’s Hadron platform as a possible tool for issuing and trading tokenized securities.
USDT Eyed for Settlement Layer
Under the memorandum, both sides will also examine faster settlement methods and consider whether USDT could serve as part of the digital settlement framework, contingent on approval from Kenyan financial regulators.
Tokenized Assets Market Keeps Expanding
This move arrives during a period of steady growth for tokenized real world assets, with onchain value nearing $36.8 billion outside of stablecoins. Stablecoins themselves account for close to $298 billion, and USDT remains the largest at about $184 billion in market value.
