What the ‘Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities’ Requires

The accord calls for internal controls, independent external audits and board-level oversight to ensure AI models “do not hack or access technical systems in unintended ways.” It leaves open the possibility of turning these voluntary commitments into law or regulation over time, though no immediate binding rules were introduced. Trump told reporters he sees “tremendous self-policing” among companies and said they understand they need to manage their own risks.

Who Signed the AI Accord

The agreement was signed at the White House by Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI President Greg Brockman, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and xAI CEO Elon Musk. The meeting also covered AI safety, industry growth and data center development. Trump ruled out a joint US-China venture to develop AI during the discussions.

Trump Signs Order Renaming AI to ‘Super Intelligence’

On the same day, Trump signed an executive order directing the executive branch to use the term “Super Intelligence” instead of “Artificial Intelligence,” arguing the new term better reflects the technology’s promise and rapidly advancing capabilities. The accord and the naming order both arrive as Trump continues to resist calls to slow AI development, citing competition with China.
