Paxton, 63, thanked supporters after the result and said Democrats would make Texas their top target in the general election. Paxton will now face Democratic state Representative James Talarico, who has called him “the most corrupt politician in America.” Talarico, 37, enters the race after building support among moderate and independent voters.
