Trump Cancels Planned Iran Strikes After Progress in Negotiations
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he has cancelled the strikes and bombings that were scheduled against Iran on Thursday night, despite earlier warnings that the United States would hit the country "very hard."

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he has cancelled the strikes and bombings that were scheduled against Iran on Thursday night, despite earlier warnings that the United States would hit the country “very hard.”

Trump said discussions had advanced and that final points had been approved by all parties, leading to the decision to halt the planned military action. Earlier in the day, he had also stated that the U.S. could eventually take control of Iran’s oil and gas infrastructure, including Kharg Island, a major oil export terminal.
Iran Warns Against Further Escalation
Iran’s top negotiator warned the United States against deeper involvement, saying Washington could face an “endless quagmire” lasting for years. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also criticized what he called impulsive decisions that could worsen the situation.

Regional Tensions Remain High
The announcement comes after recent military incidents in the region, including a U.S. strike on the tanker Settebello near Oman that India said killed three sailors. The U.S. has also confirmed actions involving the vessels Jalveer and Marivex in recent days.
