Iranian officials quickly pushed back against the claims, saying they had not agreed to allow IAEA inspectors back into nuclear facilities. Tehran also rejected Trump’s statement that frozen Iranian funds released under the new agreement would only be used to purchase American food and medical supplies.

Sanctions Relief and Hormuz Strait Included in Talks

Trump also confirmed that the United States agreed to ease certain oil sanctions against Iran for 60 days as part of the ongoing negotiations. He said Washington would allow the Strait of Hormuz to remain open without additional naval blockades while talks continue.

According to Trump, Iranian funds released under the agreement would remain in escrow controlled by the United States and be used for products including corn, wheat and soybeans from American farmers.

Iran, however, disputed those restrictions and insisted it would control how the released funds are spent.

Nuclear Talks Continue Despite Disagreements

The latest dispute highlights continuing tensions between Washington and Tehran even as both sides attempt to negotiate a broader agreement over Iran’s nuclear program and regional security issues.
