Trump Lashes Out at Norway With Crude Insult Over Missed Nobel Peace Prize
Speaking to supporters in Port Huron, Michigan, a week before the midterm elections, Donald Trump launched a fresh verbal attack on Norway. He used a profane label for the country, the same kind of language he has aimed at Haiti, Libya, Somalia and Yemen, and said he wants no Norwegians moving to America. His reason was that the Nobel committee in Oslo never gave him the Peace Prize. He raised the subject while blaming unrest in France on immigration and saying newcomers from some nations would be welcome. Earlier this month he described the snub as a lasting stain on Norway. Nothing suggests Washington is drafting a real policy on Norwegian migrants.

How Norway Answered the Criticism
On Monday, Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide told state broadcaster NRK that Trump is well aware the committee acts independently, a point Oslo has already made clear to the US. His ministry added nothing further, and the committee itself did not respond to requests for comment.
Norway’s Economy Stands Strong
Norway is one of the wealthiest nations on earth per person, based on IMF figures. Its sovereign wealth fund also booked a record first half profit in 2026 of 1.75 trillion crowns, roughly $184.3 billion.
