Who Joins Clayton on the SIF
Trump said Clayton will work alongside Andrew Ferguson, chairman of the Federal Trade Commission, and Scott Kupor, director of the Office of Personnel Management. Emil Michael, under secretary of war for research and engineering and chief technology officer of the Department of War, is also on the team.
Background on Clayton and the AI Force Plan
The idea first emerged on Sept. 20, when Trump said he wanted an AI Force modeled on the Space Force, led by an AI czar. Clayton ran the SEC during Trump’s first term and served as interim US Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Sources say he will keep his intelligence role, a position the Senate confirmed him for in July.
