Diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran gained momentum after talks in Switzerland produced a 60-day roadmap aimed at reaching a broader agreement on nuclear and regional security issues.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said mediation by Pakistan and Qatar helped achieve “major progress,” with both sides agreeing to continue technical discussions throughout the week. Working groups will focus on nuclear matters, sanctions, monitoring mechanisms and dispute resolution.
Trump Says Iran Expected to Accept Weapons Inspections
US President Donald Trump said Iran is expected to agree to major weapons inspections designed to ensure what he called “nuclear honesty” in the years ahead. His comments came as negotiators explored measures related to Iran’s nuclear program and regional stability.

Regional Security and Oil Exports Remain Key Issues
The talks also addressed tensions in Lebanon and the Strait of Hormuz. According to mediators, a communication channel will be established to prevent incidents involving commercial shipping. Araghchi also said restrictions on Iranian oil and petrochemical exports had been eased as negotiations continue toward a potential final agreement.
