The United States carried out a fresh round of military strikes against Iran early Wednesday, according to U.S. Central Command.
Strikes Target Military Capabilities Near Hormuz
CENTCOM said the operation began at 6 a.m. ET Wednesday, with forces launching strikes aimed at degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The command did not provide further details on the scope or specific targets of the latest strikes.

The strikes come amid escalating tension between the US and Iran over control of the Strait of Hormuz, with both sides continuing to exchange attacks despite a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict and securing a lasting peace agreement.
The renewed conflict has pushed energy markets sharply higher, with Brent crude climbing more than 20% over the past seven days as traders price in the risk of prolonged disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
