US Strikes Iran After Cargo Ship Attack In Hormuz

The US military struck Iran on Friday, responding to an Iranian drone attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command said aircraft hit missile and drone storage sites along with coastal radar locations, calling it “a powerful response” to Thursday’s attack. Iran said a projectile hit near a pier in Sirik, with its navy striking back at US targets in the region.

Both Sides Claim Ceasefire Violations

VP JD Vance said the US honored the ceasefire and warned “violence will be met with violence.” Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said the deal gives Tehran control over strait traffic and threatened a “broader” response if attacks continue. The UN’s International Maritime Organization halted its ship-escort operations in the strait Thursday.

Lebanon Deal And Oil Markets

Israel and Lebanon signed a tentative deal to end fighting, though Hezbollah refused to cooperate. Oil prices dropped 3% Friday as tankers exited Hormuz, even as Saudi Aramco resumed loadings at Ras Tanura after a four-month halt.
