US Struggles to Evacuate Americans as Iran Claims Destruction of AN/FPS-132 Radar valued at $1.1 billion in Qatar

The United States is racing to evacuate its citizens from parts of the Middle East as military installations and diplomatic facilities come under sustained attack. A consulate in Dubai, a CIA station in Saudi Arabia and a major US base in Qatar have reportedly sustained hits, raising fresh concerns about the safety of American personnel in the region.

AN/FPS-132 Radar Strike at Al Udeid Air Base

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has claimed it destroyed the AN/FPS-132 early warning radar stationed at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The system, installed in 2013 at an estimated cost of $1.1 billion, is designed to track ballistic missiles at ranges of up to 5,000 kilometers. If confirmed, the loss would mark a significant setback for US missile defense coverage across the Gulf.

Regional Military Escalation and Civilian Evacuations

Israel has launched multiple waves of strikes in Tehran, while US officials say thousands of Iranian targets, including naval assets, have been hit since the conflict began. More than 1,000 fatalities have been reported in Iran.

Meanwhile, Washington has closed embassies in three countries and urged Americans to depart. The United Arab Emirates has opened air corridors to facilitate evacuations, as oil shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz face heightened security risks.
