White House Cybercrime Roundtable Skips the Word Crypto Despite Scam Focus

President Donald Trump held a cybercrime roundtable on Wednesday, saying Americans lost over $20 billion in 2025 to impersonation scams, ransomware and scam centers. He said officials froze $1 billion in what he called "cybercurrency" tied to foreign scammers and stopped $1.6 billion in losses after a March executive order. Neither he nor Attorney General Todd Blanche used the words cryptocurrency or digital assets, even though pre-event reports pointed to a crackdown on overseas crypto scams. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin spoke only of digital extortion.
