Non-Crypto Business Set to Grow Sharply

According to the company’s CEO, non-crypto market activity is expected to make up more than half of Wintermute’s overall business by the end of 2027, a major jump from roughly 10% currently. As part of the expansion, the firm plans to double staff at its New York office and grow its global headcount by around 40% over the coming year.

Part of a Broader Industry Shift

Wintermute joins a growing list of crypto-native firms moving into traditional finance as digital asset platforms look to diversify revenue through tokenized versions of traditional assets. Several major crypto exchanges have already introduced tokenized stock offerings, with another exchange announcing its own entry into the space this week, offering access to more than a thousand underlying stocks and funds.

Wall Street Also Embraces Tokenization

Traditional financial institutions are moving in the same direction, with regulators recently approving pilot programs to support trading of tokenized versions of major stocks and securities. Separately, a leading US stock exchange has partnered with a tokenization platform to build blockchain based trading infrastructure for equities and exchange traded funds.
