World Foundation has raised $52.5 million through a sale of locked WLD tokens, with Pantera Capital leading the round. The funding will go toward growing World ID, a system built to tell real humans apart from AI agents online.
Major Crypto Investors Join The Funding Round
Alongside Pantera Capital, the round drew participation from Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, and Susquehanna Crypto, among other backers. All WLD tokens sold as part of the raise carry a 12-month lockup period, according to a Friday announcement.

Rising AI Activity Drives Demand For Human Verification
World ID works by issuing a digital credential once users complete biometric verification through a World Orb device. The foundation says growing AI-generated content and autonomous agents online are pushing demand for tools that can confirm genuine human users. The World project was originally founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Max Novendstern, and Tools for Humanity CEO Alex Blania, and has faced regulatory scrutiny in multiple countries over its biometric approach.
