The privacy focused Zcash blockchain stopped producing new blocks for more than four hours on June 3, raising concerns among users and investors about network reliability.
According to blockchain data, the last confirmed block was block 3,364,601, generated at 5:27 UTC. After that point, the network failed to add any new blocks, creating an unusual interruption for a blockchain that normally produces a block approximately every 75 seconds.

Transaction Processing Comes to a Standstill
The outage effectively froze the network, preventing new transactions from being confirmed. Since block production is essential for validating and recording activity on the blockchain, users were unable to complete transfers during the disruption.
As of publication, the Zcash development team had not released a public statement explaining the cause of the interruption or providing a timeline for a full resolution.
ZEC Price Remains Strong Despite Network Issues
The outage comes during a period of strong market performance for Zcash’s native token, ZEC. Zcah has gained around 46% over the past month and is up approximately 8% during the last week, outperforming many major digital assets despite broader market weakness.

The incident highlights that even well established blockchain networks can face unexpected technical challenges.
