The project, which raised $27 million three years ago to build a network connecting competing blockchains, now plans to shift its focus entirely toward Anuma, an AI application it launched earlier this year. According to figures reported by The Block on X, the ZetaChain team says maintaining its own blockchain infrastructure is no longer necessary to pursue this new direction.

Security Concerns Cited as Contributing Factor

In its migration proposal, the ZetaChain team pointed to ongoing maintenance challenges tied to its underlying blockchain framework, noting that every security patch must be coordinated across numerous independent validators. The team specifically referenced a security patch from late August, warning that increasingly sophisticated tools are making vulnerabilities easier to discover.

This concern follows a separate incident last month in which attackers exploited a vulnerability across several similarly structured blockchain networks, stealing approximately $5.7 million, though ZetaChain itself was not among the affected networks.

Migration Timeline Remains Unclear

Despite the vote’s approval, ZetaChain will continue operating while contributors finalize migration details. The ZETA token will convert to a native Solana based token at a one-to-one ratio, retaining its existing ticker symbol and total supply, with current vesting schedules unaffected.

Next vote will later determine the exact shutdown timeline and snapshot details, though the team has said it won’t proceed until exchanges confirm their token swap arrangements. No firm shutdown date has been set. Meanwhile, ZETA’s price has dipped slightly over the past day.
