Bitcoin Anti-Spam Fork Fizzles Out While Senate Delays Crypto Vote
A Bitcoin proposal designed to strip non financial data like inscriptions from the blockchain has collapsed after drawing support from only 2.5% of miners. The breakaway chain managed to mine just two blocks over eight hours before grinding to a halt, since mining remained just as costly as on the main Bitcoin network but offered no realistic way to cash out rewards.

The breakaway chain managed to mine just two blocks over eight hours before grinding to a halt, since mining remained just as costly as on the main Bitcoin network but offered no realistic way to cash out rewards.
Strategy chairman Michael Saylor said he agreed with the proposal’s goals but felt its method risked Bitcoin’s neutral consensus rules, while Blockstream’s CEO warned it could damage network credibility and potentially make some transaction outputs unusable.
Crypto Market Bill Delayed to September
A key procedural vote on crypto market structure legislation has been pushed to mid-September after Senate leadership declined to force a decision before the summer recess, despite pressure from committee leaders.
Lawmakers now have several weeks to negotiate over unresolved issues including ethics rules, stablecoin yield policy, and developer protections. Industry lobbyists are working to secure enough votes, though some observers question whether the vote is a genuine push to pass the bill or mainly a political move ahead of the midterms.
