Bitcoin Dips As Traders Digest Fed Commentary

Bitcoin briefly fell to around $78,442 before recovering slightly toward the $79,500 range, according to trading data. The decline came shortly after Warsh stated that despite recent softer inflation readings, he does not see evidence of a meaningful shift in underlying price trends.

Warsh Signals End To Forward Guidance Practice

During his address, Warsh reaffirmed the Fed’s commitment to its 2% inflation target while also announcing plans to move away from offering forward guidance to markets, a practice he said had outlived its usefulness since being introduced during the 2008 financial crisis. He noted that while inflation measures have improved from previous highs, recent progress has been modest and does not yet confirm a durable downward trend.

Stock Markets Hold Steady Despite Cautious Tone

US equities avoided losses following the speech, with major indexes edging higher, partly supported by Warsh’s positive remarks on business performance and growth linked to the artificial intelligence sector.

Analysts Say Derivatives Market Will Determine Next Bitcoin Move

Market analysts noted that sustained gains above $83,000 will likely depend on how the derivatives market behaves rather than spot price momentum alone. Some traders pointed to resistance building between current price levels and $86,000, suggesting that controlled funding rates and gradual open interest growth would signal healthier market conditions compared to rapid leverage-driven rallies.

Despite the pullback, bitcoin remains up more than 26% for the month, marking its strongest August performance since 2017.
