Staking Revenue Becomes a Financial Buffer

Ether staking made up nearly 98 percent of Bitmine’s revenue for the fiscal quarter ending in May, contributing 45.7 million dollars of the company’s total 46.5 million dollars in revenue. This income has funded both operations and a share buyback program, allowing the company to repurchase 19.1 million shares since July under a 4 billion dollar authorization, all without selling any Ether holdings.

Ether Treasury Firms Face Pressure

Many Ether treasury companies are grappling with unrealized losses as Ether’s spot price fell roughly 23 percent during the second quarter. SharpLink, the second-largest Ether holder, reported a net loss of 394 million dollars for the same period, largely tied to unrealized crypto losses. Bitmine currently holds 5.54 million ETH worth about 9.4 billion dollars, while SharpLink holds 863,000 ETH valued near 1.46 billion dollars.

Ether’s Role as a Yield-Generating Treasury Asset

Bitmine’s staking success shows how Ether can generate native yield, unlike Bitcoin, which is mostly viewed as a balance-sheet appreciation asset.
