License Details and Approval Timeline

The license was officially granted on July 22, 2026, giving the company the green light to provide regulated custody services within the Cayman Islands. This approval follows a conditional nod from CIMA back in December 2025. Alongside custody, the license also permits Blockchain.com to offer crypto-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto exchange services. The company has actually held a VASP registration in the Cayman Islands since May 2022, so this marks an expansion rather than a fresh entry into the jurisdiction.

Part of a Broader Regulatory Push

Lane Kasselman, co-CEO of Blockchain.com, said this latest approval adds to a string of recent regulatory wins, including the company’s MiCA license in Europe and its registration with the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority. Kasselman said strong regulation plays a key role in the long-term growth of digital assets and helps the company better serve its customer base across the region.
