Crypto exchange Bybit has officially launched a locally operated platform in Indonesia following its acquisition of a majority stake in digital asset firm PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal, previously known as NOBI. The acquired company has now been rebranded as Bybit Indonesia and will roll out services in phases, starting with 500 cryptocurrency trading pairs.

Local Leadership to Guide Indonesian Operations
The new platform will be led by Lawrence Samantha as CEO and Dionisius Evan as chief operating officer, both of whom previously held senior roles at NOBI. Samantha said the acquisition combines Bybit’s global resources with a local team already familiar with Indonesia’s market conditions and regulatory landscape.
Indonesia’s Crypto Market Continues to Grow
The move gives Bybit direct access to one of Asia’s largest crypto markets. According to Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority, the country had more than 21 million registered crypto asset users as of February 2026, with total crypto transaction value reaching nearly $27 billion in 2025. As of April, Indonesia had licensed 31 crypto related entities, including exchanges, clearing institutions, custodians and digital asset traders, one of which is the firm now operating as Bybit Indonesia.
