Coinbase Rolls Out US Stock Trading for UK Customers in Major Platform Expansion

Coinbase has started offering UK users access to nearly 4,000 US stocks, letting them trade around the clock on weekdays as part of a wider push to combine crypto and traditional finance on one platform.

Zero-Commission Trading With Fractional Shares

From August 6, eligible UK customers can buy, sell, and manage US equities directly inside the Coinbase app, alongside their crypto and cash balances. Trades can be funded using pounds or USDC, with no commission fees and fractional investing starting from just £1. Coinbase says it is the first crypto-focused trading app to bring US shares to UK customers.

UK and Europe regional head Keith Grose said the company wants Coinbase to work as “a one-stop shop where users can seamlessly access stocks, stablecoins, savings, and more from a single platform.” He noted further product launches are planned across the UK and EU in the coming months.

Regulatory Backing and Future Plans

The move follows Coinbase’s UK MiFID licence, which allows the firm to offer a wider range of products, including derivatives and retail equities. Grose said the country’s upcoming crypto rules, set to take effect in October 2027, give the company added confidence to keep expanding. Stock custody is handled by Apex Clearing in the US, with trades routed through Coinbase Capital Markets Corporation.

Coinbase also said it plans to eventually offer tokenized equities in the UK, working with regulators as rules evolve, though this initial rollout uses conventional shares to give customers quicker access.
