EU to Increase Pressure on Russia After Drone Attack, Germany Probes New Sabotage

The European Commission has vowed to raise pressure on Russia, including fresh sanctions, after a drone loaded with explosives was found near an airport in Leipzig, Germany. Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen called it a sign of Moscow’s growing recklessness and said Europe will not back down from supporting Ukraine.

Germany Blames Russia for Drone Plot

German officials say the attack was part of a wider hybrid warfare campaign meant to create fear and division among nations backing Ukraine. Russia has denied any involvement and says it will respond.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas confirmed sanctions targeting Russia’s military sector are being prepared, while France pushed for action against Russia’s shadow fleet of tankers.

Germany Faces Fresh Sabotage Cases

Separately, Germany is investigating two suspected sabotage incidents affecting power infrastructure in North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg, raising concerns ahead of upcoming state elections.
