Nearly 570 Weapons Launched

Ukraine’s air force said Russia fired 74 missiles and 496 drones overnight, with nearly half the missiles described as ballistic. Air defenses shot down or neutralized 48 missiles and 476 drones, but 25 ballistic missiles and 12 drones struck 33 locations. Zelenskiy said Kyiv was the main target, with damage recorded at more than 20 sites, mostly residential buildings, along with an ambulance station, a research institute, a hotel and several businesses. Strikes also hit the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Cherkasy regions.

EU Signals More Sanctions

European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said she would propose additional sanctions against Russia, saying continued attacks on civilians would be met with further measures.

Separately, Ukrainian forces struck the Lukoil refinery in Kstovo, Russia, hitting a primary crude processing unit. Ukraine has increased strikes on Russian energy infrastructure in recent months, contributing to fuel shortages that have forced Russia to import gasoline from countries including India.
