Iran’s military struck U.S. bases across the Gulf yesterday, hours after Washington bombed nearly 90 targets inside Iran. The exchange marks a serious breakdown of the three-week truce that had briefly slowed the war.

Iranian forces said they hit Patriot missile systems in Kuwait, an early warning radar site in Qatar and a fuel depot used by U.S. troops in Bahrain. Kuwait confirmed it intercepted a cruise missile, several ballistic missiles and drones, with one person hurt by falling debris. Jordan also reported missile activity, saying eight projectiles were shot down near its Azraq base.

Khamenei Laid to Rest in Mashhad

The strikes coincided with the burial of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, killed in a February strike that opened the war. Mourners packed the shrine in Mashhad, some carrying signs directed at President Trump.

Officials in Bushehr said a U.S. strike struck the perimeter of Iran’s nuclear plant. Oil markets, rattled earlier in the week, eased slightly as both sides signaled openness to further talks despite the renewed fighting.
