Iran launched attacks on U.S. military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain early Thursday after American forces carried out a second overnight round of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure, deepening the conflict just as a fragile ceasefire framework collapsed.

US Strikes Escalate Following Trump’s Declaration

The U.S. military said its latest strikes hit roughly 90 Iranian military targets, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, and naval infrastructure along Iran’s coastline. This followed an earlier wave that struck more than 80 targets. Trump said the strikes were in direct retaliation for Tuesday’s Iranian attacks on three cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz, warning that further Iranian action would trigger a stronger U.S. response. Speaking to reporters, Trump said U.S. forces were retaliating at a ratio of “20 to one.”

Casualties And Damage Reported Across Iran

Iranian state media reported that three people were killed and several injured in strikes near Ahvaz. Other strikes hit Bandar Abbas, home to Iran’s largest port and key naval facilities, along with the coastal cities of Konarak and Chabahar, where a maritime traffic control tower was damaged and power was briefly knocked out. A firefighter was killed in a strike on the airport in Iranshahr, and a railway bridge near Aqqala in northern Iran was also hit.

Iran Vows Continued Response

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said their retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases in Kuwait and Bahrain could extend to other regional bases if American attacks continue. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said the Strait of Hormuz would only reopen on Iran’s terms, adding that U.S. pressure tactics would no longer come without consequences. A source affiliated with Iran’s security establishment warned of a “massive attack” on U.S. bases still to come.
