NEAR Price Gains Momentum After Near Protocol Reveals Key Network Upgrade

Near Protocol’s native token surged nearly 30% in the past 24 hours after the blockchain confirmed a major upgrade planned for June that could change how the network scales during periods of rising demand.

Protocol said the upcoming update will introduce dynamic resharding, a system that allows Near Protocol to automatically add new shards as activity grows. Shards are smaller sections of a blockchain that process transactions and smart contracts at the same time, helping the network handle more users without slowing down.

Near Protocol Dynamic Resharding Explained

Until now, adding shards on Near was a long process. It required validator coordination, voting, protocol upgrades, and a phased rollout that could take weeks. Near Protocol said the new system will remove that delay.

According to the project, if a shard reaches a specific state size threshold, it will split automatically and be validated through state witnesses without human involvement. Near described the move as part of its original goal to build a highly scalable blockchain with strong performance.

Post-Quantum Security Added to Near Network

According to the Near Protocol the June upgrade will also bring post quantum safe signing, aimed at protecting user funds from future quantum computing risks.

Following the announcement, NEAR climbed to around $2.24, supported by growing investor interest and reported inflows of nearly $7 million this week into the Bitwise Near Staking ETP in Europe.
