Netanyahu Vows to Reject US Demands for Israeli Troop Withdrawal From Gaza, Lebanon, Syria

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to oppose US demands that Israel withdraw its forces from Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon, according to Israeli media reports ahead of his upcoming visit to Washington.

Netanyahu’s Firm Stance

Speaking to members of the military political cabinet, Netanyahu said Washington is pushing for a full troop withdrawal from all three territories. Citing Israel’s Channel 13, reports quoted the prime minister saying he would firmly resist the demand, stating plainly that he intends to say no.

Cabinet Approves Board of Peace Operations

Israel’s military political cabinet had earlier approved the operation of the US-backed Board of Peace in Gaza, an initiative introduced by President Donald Trump, with only National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir voting against it. A political source said Israel’s agreement to allow International Stabilization Forces into Gaza was part of Trump’s 20-point plan, which contributed to the release of all hostages.

Conditions on Troop Positioning

According to the source, Israel insists on keeping Israel Defense Forces positioned along the so-called yellow line and will not withdraw until Hamas is fully disarmed and Gaza is demilitarized. At this stage, roughly 200 representatives from friendly nations such as Uganda and Morocco are expected to join the stabilization effort.

Rules Governing International Forces

The cabinet granted legal immunity to International Stabilization Force participants under international law. These forces will operate beyond IDF-controlled areas past the yellow line but in coordination with Israeli troops. Each unit’s deployment requires separate approval from the prime minister, defense minister, and foreign minister, with eligibility limited to countries that have signed peace agreements with Israel and do not oppose the country or its officials internationally.
