One Dead in New Attack on Riyadh Airport Day After Houthi Strike Kills 13

One person was killed and eleven wounded in a fresh attack on Riyadh’s international airport on Sunday, just a day after a Houthi strike killed 13 people and wounded more than 300.
Saudi led coalition forces said an unidentified projectile hit Terminal 4, causing a fire. Air defences also intercepted a cruise missile near the airport, a drone in the Eastern Province, and a ballistic missile heading for Khamis Mushait.
Houthis Claim Responsibility and Warn of More Attacks
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed Saturday’s attack and said the group also struck Dammam airport and two Saudi Aramco facilities. He warned that worse is yet to come unless Saudi Arabia stops its strikes on Yemen, which the Houthis said numbered 124 in 24 hours.
An eyewitness at Dammam saw a projectile hit the tarmac near parked planes, forcing passengers to disembark. The Saudi civil aviation authority confirmed the strike and said damage checks are under way.
Travel Warnings and Energy Conference Goes Ahead
Britain advised its citizens against all but essential travel to Saudi airports except Medina, while US aviation authorities told airlines to use caution. The Riyadh airport remains closed, and schools shifted to remote learning.
Despite the attacks, a WPC Energy conference opened as planned near the airport, and an International Energy Forum ministerial meeting went ahead.
The week’s death toll at Riyadh airport has now reached 18. US President Donald Trump said Washington is considering joining Saudi strikes on the Houthis.
