Oracle’s stock has fallen sharply from its all-time high reached in September 2025, dropping roughly 64% and erasing nearly $600 billion in market value. Over the past five years, the company’s shares have significantly underperformed the broader market, trailing well behind major tech peers like Microsoft and Alphabet during the same stretch.

Ellison’s Fortune Takes Major Hit
The stock decline has had a substantial impact on founder Larry Ellison’s personal wealth. His net worth peaked near $388 billion last September, briefly placing him as the world’s second-richest person, but has since fallen to around $175 billion, a drop of more than $200 billion in under a year. The decline has pushed him down several spots on global wealth rankings, coinciding with his financial backing of his son’s efforts to acquire a major media company.
Investors Question Aggressive AI Growth Expectations
The selloff reflects growing investor skepticism about whether Oracle’s ambitious AI driven growth targets are realistic. While the company continues to secure large cloud infrastructure contracts tied to rising AI computing demand, concerns remain about the heavy capital spending required for data centers and power infrastructure, along with intense competition from other major cloud providers.
Wall Street Remains Bullish Despite the Drop
Despite the steep decline, a large majority of Wall Street analysts covering Oracle continue to maintain positive ratings on the stock. Still, analysts note that restoring investor confidence will likely require sustained strong performance over multiple quarters, along with clearer evidence that Oracle’s heavy AI investments are paying off.
