The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office alleges that the suspect, in his 30s, mixed the pesticide methomyl into a cup of coffee during a meeting at a café in November.
According to investigators, the victim collapsed shortly after consuming the drink and was hospitalized for three days before regaining consciousness. Authorities have charged the accused with attempted murder and violating the Pesticide Control Act. The trial is scheduled to begin on March 10 at the Seoul Eastern District Court.
$800,000 Bitcoin Investment Dispute
The two men had reportedly operated a Bitcoin focused investment venture since 2022. Prosecutors claim tensions escalated after trading losses totaled 1.17 billion Korean won, prompting the victim to assume control over company finances.
The case unfolds amid heightened crypto participation in South Korea, where exchange users surpassed 16 million last year. Meanwhile, Bitcoin has experienced significant volatility, falling sharply from its October high above $125,000 to around $65,500 in recent months.
