Taiwan to Roll Out Crypto Travel Rule for Domestic Transfers in October
Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission plans to enforce the Travel Rule on all domestic crypto platform transfers starting in October, regardless of transaction size.

Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission plans to enforce the Travel Rule on all domestic crypto platform transfers starting in October, regardless of transaction size.
New Data Requirements
Announced Tuesday, the proposed amendments require crypto platforms to share customer information on every transfer. Transactions above 30,000 New Taiwan dollars, about $930, will need extra details: individual senders must provide their birth date and home address, while businesses must share registration numbers and official addresses. Receiving platforms must also verify beneficiary data against their own records.
Cross-Border Expansion Planned for 2027
The FSC intends to extend these rules to international transfers between domestic and overseas platforms by the end of 2027, giving the industry time to prepare.
A Long-Delayed Requirement
Taiwan originally introduced Travel Rule provisions in 2021 but never implemented them, citing mismatched global standards and difficulty linking cross-border systems. The new proposal will undergo a 30-day public consultation before moving ahead.
Following a Global Pattern
This move aligns with a broader international trend. A July FATF report found 83% of surveyed countries have passed Travel Rule legislation, up from 73% in 2025, though the group warned that enforcement gaps remain widespread across jurisdictions.
