Two Chinese oil tankers carrying around 4 million barrels of crude have exited the Strait of Hormuz, according to shipping data, as market attention shifts toward potential progress in U.S.–Iran negotiations. The movement comes amid easing tensions and renewed diplomatic signals from Washington.
U.S. President Donald Trump said the conflict would end “very quickly” and claimed Iran’s leadership was seeking an agreement, while also warning that military action could follow if talks fail. Vice President JD Vance said discussions with Tehran showed “progress,” noting that negotiations remain complex due to unclear positions within Iran’s leadership.
Trump also stated he was close to approving renewed strikes before pausing the decision after receiving a new proposal from Tehran. Iran, meanwhile, is demanding an end to hostilities, lifting of sanctions, release of frozen assets, and withdrawal of U.S. forces from nearby regions.
Iranian officials say they are open to a “fair and comprehensive agreement” but insist on diplomatic conditions. The Strait of Hormuz remains a key global energy route, and any disruption continues to impact oil prices and market stability.
